Exploring podcast programs is a must in order to find one that works well with you and what you wish to accomplish. The first program I looked into was Soundcloud and I have to say that I’m not a fan. Of having to enter in a paypal or credit card just to sign up. The next program I worked with was AudioBoom. After using Soundcloud, this sign up process was much easier. The down side to using this program was the time. Your timing is limited nut honestly, I think when working with students, the 10 minute time is perfect. Podomatic is the program that I decided to use. It was easy and was the most user friendly because you select a file from the computer. There weren’t too many steps from beginning to end.
I can think of many ways to use podcast in the library such as, announcements, quick instructions, and ways to present projects to peers. Teaching with a podcast is a great way to help students continue their learning at home as well if it is posted on your website. It helps extend the lesson and provides a review to what was taught at school.
I choose to create a podcast that would give announcements about things that were going on in the library. I plan to use this next week as I check in books and gather materials for our lesson.
